Logo and Graphics Design Help...

I am not a graphics artist by any means, but I do manage just fine on my own with the help of a few simple graphics applications for my simple needs. While there are many folks out there who are geniuses with applications like Photoshop and Fireworks*, I prefer the simple tools like MS Paint* and MS Photo Editor*.

I tend to use the following tools when doing graphics for my websites:

  • Microsoft Paint* - Available through any Microsoft OS.

  • Microsoft Photo Editor* - Although not available from Microsoft any longer, you can still find this application HERE.

  • Hex Color Finder - Available HERE.

  • The Logo Creator* - Available through LaughingBird Software.

With the exception of "The Logo Creator" application the above tools are free. "The Logo Creator" software is well worth the money in my opinion and they offer an extensive assortment of templates that are easily modified to fit your needs.

Building your graphics is only half the battle though. You will need to become well versed with html in order to make your vision a reality. Believe it or not, I like using Microsoft's FrontPage application for creating my general page layouts.

While most veteran web developers laugh at this, I tend to design visually and FrontPage works well for me for jus that. I do not rely on FrontPage* for the entire build process, just the general layout. This page was developed using FrontPage 2003* and then I modified the HTML to meet my needs.

I will be adding more information here in the near future, so please check back often.

* Microsoft, The Logo Creator, and Fireworks are registered Trademarks' with their respected owners.
